The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in partnership with the City of Midwest City, proudly announces that Midwest City has achieved film friendly certification after fulfilling the requirements of OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.

With its official film friendly designation, Midwest City joins a growing network of Oklahoma communities working to attract film and television productions. Combined with Oklahoma’s competitive film incentives and statewide production resources, the certification provides another avenue for the city to raise its profile among filmmakers, encourage local business participation and support economic development through the creative industries.

“We value the efforts of the Oklahoma Film + Music Office and others in recruiting and welcoming new film and TV projects to Oklahoma, and we are thankful that Midwest City has been able to play a role in hosting several of those productions,” said Midwest City Mayor Richard R. “Rick” Rice. “We hope becoming a film friendly certified community will only increase the opportunities to expose our media friendly community to the rest of the world.”

Located just a few miles east of Oklahoma City, Midwest City offers filmmakers convenient access to the region’s production workforce, accommodations, transportation, infrastructure and other industry resources. The community also features a variety of distinctive locations, including Planet Bowl, a longtime local bowling center; the Atkinson Heritage Center, a preserved historic home that reflects the city’s history; and Rose State College, a 120-acre campus featuring academic buildings, gathering spaces and performing arts facilities. Together, these locations and more offer a range of visual settings for productions, while providing access to the broader Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

“Midwest City’s commitment to welcoming productions demonstrates the important role communities play in strengthening Oklahoma’s film industry,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “Film friendly certification helps connect filmmakers with communities that are ready to work with them, while creating opportunities for local businesses and residents to benefit from production activity. We appreciate Midwest City’s partnership and look forward to helping bring more projects to the community.”
