College SAVE Summer Reading Champions

The North Dakota State Library partnered with Bank of North Dakota to bring the College SAVE Summer Reading Champions Campaign to participants in the 2026 Collaborative Summer Library Program, “Unearth A Story.”

Every child completing their library’s goal for “Unearth A Story” received a redeemable certificate for a $10 contribution to an existing College SAVE account or a $25 contribution to a new College SAVE account. Over 4,000 children took advantage of the program, and families have until December 31, 2026, to redeem the certificate. In addition, there were 10 participants selected from random drawings who were awarded $529 College SAVE contributions.

“Summer reading with a touch of financial literacy? Sounds like a winning combination! The North Dakota State Library’s partnership with Bank of North Dakota not only encourages children to take part in the Summer Reading programs offered by their local libraries, but also aids these learners by contributing to their College SAVE (529) accounts,” states Tammy Kruger, Literacy Specialist at the North Dakota State Library. “Everyone who takes part in Summer Reading is a winner in multiple ways!”

The $529 scholarship recipients are:

  • Faye Griffin, Bismarck Veteran’s Memorial Public Library
  • Nora Shauer, Leach Public Library
  • Maddie Schrank, Dickinson Area Public Library
  • Everett Mann, Beulah Public Library
  • Bodie Skjerven, Grand Forks Public Library
  • Aubrie Gutierrez, Williston Public Library
  • Emily Letcher, James River Valley Public Library
  • Kynzlee Rau, Lake Region Public Library
  • Reyna Birchem, Fargo Public Library
  • Rayme Gross, Fargo Public Library

“Libraries statewide did a tremendous job with their summer reading programs, encouraging young readers to develop a passion for reading,” states Don Morgan, Bank of North Dakota president. “Bank of North Dakota congratulates everyone earning College SAVE funds for their future adventures.”

The College SAVE Plan is a 529 plan established by the State of North Dakota. Bank of North Dakota acts as trustee of the College SAVE Trust and is responsible for administering the Plan. To learn more about College SAVE, visit collegesave4u.com.
